Jolls

March 16th, 2010

From the creators if CiviBalls, comes Jolls.

Jolls is a physics-puzzler that has you placing the given Jolls on the level in such a way as to collect all the like color Jolls trapped in bubbles.  Some of the later levels get kind of tricky, but there are really only a few options, so you can usually work out the order / where you have to place things to beat the level.

Sushi Cat

The graphics are brilliant

Go make your cat fat!

Go make your cat fat!

Om nom nom nom! This little flash game is probably the cutest I’ve ever played! It’s very similar to Peggle both in terms of it’s mechanics and it’s addictiveness!

Seriously, go play it!

It’s probably a good idea not to turn on your PS3 right now.

Oh well you can always play this nifty flash game in the meantime.

Flotilla: Orbital Battleship Manoeuvres

February 28th, 2010

My flotilla of three ships are facing off against an equally sized group of enemy ships of varying size and ordinance. I’ve just encountered a fleet of space pigs who’ve asked for my protection against some hostile pirates and I’ve chosen to do the right thing and step in and kick some pirate arse.

Rastafarian Cats. Yep.

"Ding" "Ding" - the critical hit sound is glorious.

I quickly assess the situation that the game has put in front of me and decide to order my beam frigate to move at flanking speed to try and get behind the enemy position so that I can use it’s superior firepower on their weaker rear and bottom armour. I make sure to orientate my ship such that I present only the front armour to my enemy. I take my two smaller destroyers (the default ship, small, fast and armed with slow firing but powerful nuclear missile batteries), order them to move and fire and set co-ordinates opposite the beam frigate.

With my genius pincer movement planned out I end my turn and get ready to watch as my plan is acted out in 30 seconds of real time full 3D space warfare set to a beautiful classical piano score. Both your’s and your enemy’s turns happen simultaneously with no opportunity to alter your plan for the full 30 seconds once you end your turn.

Diver2 by Farseer Games

February 28th, 2010

This game is certainly NOT casual. It’s absolutely crushingly hard in fact but it’s a huge amount of fun (as long as you’re not on a Laptop without a mouse!).

A typically brutal level in Diver2

Can any one beat this?

Diver2 presents a number of increasingly hard arenas through which you must dive. You get points for how close to vertical you are when you finally enter the water between two marker buoys. The number soon losing all meaning when you realise that you’ve done the same level 420 times over and you’ve yet to even land in the scoring zone. Simply beating the level is plenty good enough! It took me nearly 2 days to complete but it was very satisfying.

It’s worth mentioning that this game needs that weird Silverlight thing by Microsoft.

Anyway, check it out and see if you can beat my scores.
